Thanks Jeremy Lamb

On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 118-114 partially thanks to a missed lay-up by Jeremy Lamb. This was by all definitions a trap game as the Sixers were without their best player in Joel Embiid and they were thinking ahead to the Celtics game today. The Sixers starters all played great games and as a unit they scored 104 points and a-lot of those points are due to Redick hitting seven three pointers. However, every player on the Sixers bench scored 0 points, unless their name was James Ennis III. Ennis had his best game as a Sixer, as he dropped 14 points total and hit a three with 18 seconds left to give the Sixers a 4 point lead. While it's awesome to see Ennis play well, the rest of the Sixers bench needs to be able to score more then 0 points if they want to beat the Celtics tonight. Overall, this wasn't the prettiest game but good teams don't lose trap games and the Sixers proved that last night.

Betting Line: PHI(-1.5) CHA(+1.5)

Game Highlights:

Player of the Game: Ben Simmons 28 Pts, 5 Ast, 8 Reb

Some thoughts......
-JJ was 7/14 from three!!!
-Whenever Embiid is out, Ben usually drops more then 20 points
-TJ has been terrible as of late

Sixers defeat the "Beast" of the East 130-125

52 POINTS AIN'T ENOUGH GREEK FREAK. Last night on a national televised game, the Philadelphia 76ers went into Milwaukee and took down the number one seeded Bucks. This was a back and forth game in terms of runs, but the Sixers lead the entire game.  A stellar performance from Joel Embiid and clutch Buckets from Jimmy Butler down the stretch allowed the Sixers to overcome Giannis's 52 point game. This was a statement game by the Sixers where they showed that they can compete with the best of the bunch when Embiid is healthy. Without Embiid this Sixers team is a whole different story. The Sixers can't celebrate this win for two long though because on Wednesday the Boston Celtics come to town in a MUST-WIN game for the Sixers.

Betting Line: PHI(+5.5) MIL(-5.5)

Player of the Game: Joel Embiid 40 Pts, 15 Reb, 6 Ast

Some thoughts.....
-Jimmy Buckets probably shoots around 80% in the fourth quarter every game
-Joel Embiid takes the Sixers from a slightly above average team to a championship contender
-Tobias had a quiet game with 12 points but he didn't shoot much

Sixers beat Cavs 106-99

In quite an unexciting affair, the Sixers took care of one of the league's worst teams in the Cavaliers. Honestly, there's not much to say about this game. It was an ugly win but at the end of the day a win is a win.

Betting Line: PHI(-14) CLE(+14)

Player of the Game: Ben Simmons 26 Pts, 10 Reb, 8 Ast

Some thoughts.....
-Tobias had a quiet game
-Zhaire Smith was available, but the Sixers decided to not play him
-Joel had 4 blocks
-Joel's put-back dunk at the end was other-worldly

Sixers defeat Pacers 106-89

With third place in the eastern conference on the line, the Sixers had a lot to play for vs the pacers on Sunday. The first two quarters were very ugly for the sixers, and they went into halftime down 8. However, In the third quarter everything changed. The pacers went on to miss more then fifteen straight shots from the floor and the Sixers entered the fourth quarter with a lead. In the fourth, the Sixers pulled away as Embiid took over the game and the Pacers began to crumble. Overall, this is a important win but I personally think that the Sixers need to play MUCH better if they want to beat teams like Boston.

Betting Line: PHI(-5.5) IND(+5.5)

Player of the Game: Joel Embiid 33 Pts, 12 Reb

Some thoughts....

-Embiid had a terrible first half, but he balled out in the second half by scoring 20+ points in the second half alone
-TJ seems a bit off lately when it comes to his jumper
-Tobias played well as usual

Sixers 107- Bulls 108

Well, that was something. Last night, the Sixers defense sunk to a whole new level of trash. When the bulls were down by 2, the Sixers had a miscommunication on defense which led to an easy lay-up for the athletic Zach LaVine. Speaking of LaVine, he had an unreal game with 39 Pts, 5 Reb, 4 Ast. The Sixers simply cannot defend guards and it's been that way the whole season. Anyways, the Sixers face the Rockets on Friday in a game where I have a feeling the Sixers will win.

Betting Line: CHI(+3.5) PHI(-3.5)

Sixers Player of the Game: Jimmy Butler 22 Pts 4 Ast 3 Reb

Some Thoughts..

-The Sixers lost twice essentially due to the shot clock problems
-James Ennis is more athletic then I thought
-JJ Redick is still off and he looks tired, maybe the Sixers should consider resting him
-Ben had a quiet game but was solid from the free throw line
-I have a feeling that the Sixers will indeed beat the Rockets in Houston

Sixers defeat Magic 114-106

While the Magic only have one all star and are just a mediocre team in general, this should be considered a solid win for the 76ers. In this game the Sixers were missing their top three centers in Embiid, Bolden, and Boban. That meant that Amir Johnson (the same player who was playing in the g-league a couple of weeks ago) got the start. Amir actually had a solid game as he had 13 points and he even hit a three. Tobias, Ben, and JJ both played solid games and were efficient overall. Jimmy Butler only had 14 points but he almost single-handedly won this game for the Sixers with clutch shots and steals at the end of the game. The Sixers may have 4 all-star level players, but when the game is on the line only one of them should have the ball, and that's Jimmy Butler.

Betting Line: PHI(-4) ORL(+4)

Player of The Game: JJ Redick 26 Pts 5 Reb, 6/9 from three

Some thoughts....
-Mike Scott is my new favorite player and it's not even close
-Jimmy Butler knows that his role is being a closer
-JJ got his swagger back after a couple of bad games
-Respect to Amir Johnson, the man literally went to the g-league just so he could play and he came back and scored 13 points last night.

Brett Brown 117- Warriors 120

Welp, that blows. On Saturday, Brett Brown decided to channel his inner stupidity and therefore cost the Sixers a chance at beating arguably the best team of all time for the second time this season. The purposely-missed free throw from Simmons and the terrible foul by Mike Scott are just examples of bad coaching. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Sixers will never reach their true potential until they get rid of Brett Brown.

Betting Line : PHI(+4.5) GS(-4.5)

Player of the game: Ben Simmons 25 Pts, 15 Reb, 11 Assist

-If you don't call Mike Scott the threegional manager then you aren't a real Sixers Fan
-Ben Simmons had 8+ turnovers
-Tobias missed a wide open shot with around a minute left that would've tied the game
-Jimmy played semi-decent

Sixers sneak by the Pelicans 111-110

Well, that was an interesting game to say the least. After getting blown out at home, the Sixers entered Smoothie King Center on a mission to defeat a team with a ton of locker-room/chemistry problems. Most of these problems stem from Anthony Davis, who declared to the public that he is unhappy being a Pelican and he wants to be moved to a new team. Anyways, the Sixers were up big in this game as they had a 15 point lead in the third quarter. However, in typical Sixers fashion they let their lead shrivel all the way down to 1 point and made this game way closer then it had to be due to a poor offensive game-plan and way to many turnovers. The real news that came from this game is that everyones favorite big-man Boban Marjanovic left the game with 1 minute left in the fourth with an ugly knee injury. It looked pretty bad, so hopefully the MRI results provide some good news.

Betting Line: PHI (-2) NO (+2)

Player of the Game: Tobias Harris 29 Pts 10 Reb 3 Ast

Some Small Takeaways...
-TJ seemed slightly more aggressive offensively then usual (this is a good thing)
-Every Game that goes by Jimmy Butler shoots and scores less
-Since the Sixers acquired Tobias Harris, Jimmy Butler has only attempted ten shots a game
-Solid performance from Ben Simmons
-I'm still shocked that JJ Redick missed two free throws in a row

Sixers Pummel Lakers 120-143

WHO NEEDS DEFENSE?!?! On Sunday night on primetime television, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Los Angelous Lakers. The game started off on a rough note for the Sixers as Laker player Kyle Kuzma dropped a astonishing 23 points in the first quarter. However, the Sixers started to regain their mojo in the second quarter and they entered halftime with a comftorable lead. The Sixers let the Lakers back into the game in the third quater, but they pulled away in the fourth quater. This win shows how dangerous this new Sixers line-up can be as the Sixers starters combined for 103 Points. This Sixers team is for real, and tuesday's matchup with Boston is a must win game

Starting Five Stats:

Jimmy Butler: 15 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast
Ben Simmons: 8 pts, 3 reb, 7 ast
Tobias Harris: 22 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast
JJ Redick: 21 pts, 5 ast, 2 reb
Joel Embiid:  37 pts, 14 reb, 3 ast

Some Thoughts:

-Ben Simmons attempted a three pointer, yes you read that right
-Joel Embiid was sick on Friday's game against Denver, and that explains why he had such a rough night
-Joel Embiid is an unstoppable force when his three-point shot is working
-Tobias Harris is as good as Jimmy Butler
-Speaking of Jimmy, HE NEEDS TO SHOOT MORE
-Mike Scott is better then most people think

Sixers hold off the Heat 106-102

In their first game back from the all-star break, the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Miami heat 106-102. This wasn't the prettiest game as the Sixers shot poorly from three and the defense was mediocre. But this is a decent win considering the fact that the Sixers were without Embiid. The Sixers next game will be played at home vs the Traiblazers on Saturday at 1pm.

Key Player Stats:

Jimmy Butler: 18 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast

Ben Simmons: 21 pts, 7 reb, 4 ast

Tobias Harris: 23 pts, 11 reb, 1 ast

JJ Redick: 13 pts, 6 reb, 3 ast

Some Thoughts...

-Embiid is out for a week and will miss key games vs the Thunder and Blazers
-Boban was hitting floaters lol
-JJ struggled (3-10 3pt shooting) but came up clutch like always
-Ben had a very solid game

Sixers beat a g-league team 126-111

Holy crap, the Knicks are terrible. Last night, the Philadelphia 76ers went in to Madison Square Garden and took down a Knicks team that had lost 17 in a row coming into last nights game. This was very much an up and down game, as there were times when the Sixers were leading by as many as twenty-six points, however due to bad defense the Knicks were able to make a couple runs and were able to cut the Sixers lead down to less then ten in the fourth quarter. If I'm being honest, the Sixers are slightly lucky to have won this game. Yes, the Sixers are obviously better then the pathetic Knicks, but the Knicks had plenty of wide open threes and chances to cut into the Sixers big lead.  The Sixers should be happy they came out as winners but they should also recognize how poor their defense was. In the end though all that matters is that the Sixers took the W and we are now heading into the all-star break with a 37-21 record.

Player of the Game:

-Tobias Harris: 25 pts, 6 reb, 3 ast

-Tobias Harris might be a better fit with the 76ers then Jimmy Butler
-In the last two games, Ben Simmons has been dunked on twice lol
-Joel had a decent bounce back game
-Onto the all-star break!

Wednesday, February 13, 2019

In this particular post, I'm not going to mention stats or statistics, because the real reason that the 76ers, a team with four all-star level players lost to a team missing their only all-star is none other then Brett Brown. There is literally no coach in the entire NBA who is worse at making substitutions then Brett Brown. TJ and JJ are just abused every-time we play the Celtics or any high level team. However, since Brett Brown has 0 IQ points he decides to keep them both out on the floor at the same time. This essentially gave the Celtics free points last night while us 76ers fans had to watch in anger. Honestly, I could do a better job coaching this team because even I know that you can't have two small white guys who can't play defense on the floor at the same time. That's just a recipe for disaster. If the Sixers really want to contend for a title in the upcoming years, they need to at least consider making a coaching change.

Notes From Last Night:
-I don't care how well he played last night Gordon Hayward is still an EXTREMELEY overrated player that is nowhere close to an all-star. I've said it before and I'll say it again, before his ugly injury last year he was a mediocre player, now he is an below average NBA player
-Al Horford may not be good, but he gives Joel Embiid problems
-Why does Ben Simmons always disappear in the biggest games?
-Jimmy Butler has a weird personality
-Tobias had his worst game as a Sixer but you can't blame this loss on him alone

Elton Brand Isn't Messing Around....

Yesterday, the Philadelphia 76ers made another huge move that is sure to put the league on notice. The 76ers traded Landry Shamet, Mike Muscala, Wilson Chandler along with a couple of draft picks in exchange for Tobias Harris and Boban Marjanovic. The Sixers starting line-up now contains Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, JJ Reddick, Tobias Harris, and Jimmy Butler. Not only is this one of the best line-ups in the entire NBA, its also one of the best line-ups this league has seen in a long time. With this new line-up the Philadelphia 76ers are telling the leauge that they are going for it all this year.
